Reflect, reset, rise

Editors-in-chief Ajay Chakraborty and Ryan Wang’ 26 – Index Staff

As 2025 comes to an end, The Index encourages you to reflect on the year.

No really. Take a moment from your day to think. What about yourself and the communities around you have changed? What did you achieve? Where did you come up short? Think about your happiest and grimmest moments of the year, then let them go.

Truthfully, moments in our lives do not grow larger or smaller over time. Only the size of our world changes. Dictate that change.

Moving into 2026, create a bucket list of things you hope to accomplish, whether academic, athletic, habitual, or personal. If you wish to uphold the respect the previous generations of students brought to the school’s name, find your footing and purpose, and be disciplined towards that cause.

Go find that teacher and ask for help. Go to that extra workout. Go pick up that new skill. Go be more mindful of and respectful to those around you.

Go find that teacher and ask for help. Go to that extra workout. Go pick up that new skill. Go be more mindful of and respectful to those around you. Even better? Do it all, and become that well-rounded man Haverford so says to foster.

To the Third Form: You’re no longer middle schoolers. It’s time to take things seriously.

To the Fourth Form: Take the extra step. Get yourself ready to be an upperclassman with greater responsibilities.

To the Fifth Form: You’re about to enter the hardest year yet—junior year spring and senior year fall. Be ready to work.

To the Sixth Form: College applications are done. All there is to do now is to wait. With the stress of writing applications now over, take some time to relax, but don’t let yourself slip. Don’t waste away the $24,000 your parents paid for this final semester. The Index hopes that you seriously consider our message, and wishes you a joyous holiday season and end of the year.
