For some people, a haircut needs to be done every two to three weeks. Others treat their haircut as a ritual with a certain standard of style. Main Liners tend to lean toward the prim and proper end of the hair care spectrum, so this historic and prestigious suburb of Philadelphia has many a choice of high-end salons and barbershops.
Barbers generally recommend a trim every three to six weeks, according to Barbermane’s grooming guide. As of October 2026, the average men’s haircut costs about $29.
Fourth Former Carter Smith gets his hair cut every six weeks at Philly Bloke in Wayne, where he regularly pays between $45 and $60.
“I like the people and the haircuts,” Smith said.

“The first time I went there, the service was really good [and] the barber was really nice,” Tiongco said. “They ask what you want and make sure that you get what you want.”
“I would love to get my hair cut every three weeks or so, but with the chaos of my schedule probably closer to every month and a half,”
Mr. Jesse Sataloff
Upper School English teacher Mr. Jesse Sataloff pays $28 at Scissors, a small shop in Bryn Mawr.
“I would love to get my hair cut every three weeks or so, but with the chaos of my schedule probably closer to every month and a half,” Mr. Sataloff said.
Mr. Sataloff first found Scissors with a quick Google Maps search when he moved to the area.
“They’re very kind people, and they do a good job,” he said. Still, in today’s economy, he is concerned about the dramatic price increase of his haircut.
