Buzzing, the Fords are. In just the last week alone, golf secured the Inter-Ac title. Cross country looks strong heading into EA Day, having recorded some impressive times in recent races at Belmont Plateau. Soccer won its first game of the PAISAA State tournament 6-0. Fords water polo won its first Easterns Championship in the school’s history. And last Saturday, the football Fords defeated Malvern Prep and hence will play in an EA Day game that effectively determines the league championship.
EA must be defeated. It is that simple. President Scuazzo’s campaign slogan must ring true—it simply must. The talent, the Fords have. But more importantly, the spirit, the brotherhood, the Fords have as well.
This has been the year of the student body. All events elicit a crowd, men support their brothers, men bleed maroon and gold. And the culmination of Haverford’s fall sports will bring the largest, most passionate crowds of all. In unison, the Fords will stand. There to win—but more importantly, there to support their brothers.
The EA rivalry is one of Haverford’s historic traditions. Have fun, men. Make good choices, as Mr. Lengel would say. Be there for your brothers. Partake in tradition this Saturday. And most importantly, witness your school bring home the sweater for the second straight year!
The Index looks forward to reporting on a crushing victory for the Fords.
It will be cold this winter. Need that sweater, we will.
