EA Day 2023 is near.
It is the most notable athletic event of the year, when our five fall teams take to the course, pool, and field to win the prized sweater for the third straight year—a feat Episcopal Academy has not achieved since 2007. For all five competitions, it is up to us as a community to provide the invaluable support for our peers that EA cannot.
In 2015, Former Student Body President Keyveat Postell took to The Index to challenge his brothers to attend EA Day, citing a dismal showing at sporting events throughout the fall. We have not had such problems this year: the football game against Malvern Prep saw us produce one of the largest student sections in recent memory. We have been there for our brothers every step of the way, and Saturday is the final step, the last day on the fall sports schedule, the ending to what has been a season of memorable contests and demonstrations of camaraderie.
We have four years in Wilson Hall. Four years to soak in every experience, to feel every high and every low, and to feel them with your brothers by your side. EA Day is one of the events that will remain with you long after you have left this place. We saw it last year, when hundreds of alums piled into Newtown Square to watch the Fords retain the sweater. This day has a way of connecting us to the men who have walked through these halls before us, and to those who will come after us.
When Mr. Casertano is once more holding that sweater at the end of two days of battle, we will know we were there: for our brothers, and for the legacy of our school.
So show up early. Sixth Formers, make it to the Gulph Mills Golf Club on Friday afternoon, and walk the course with your brothers, encouraging them every step of the way. On Saturday morning, be at the track minutes before the cross-country guys go off at the starting line, and stick around until the final man crosses the line. Then file into the fieldhouse, pack the pool, be loud. When the game is won, head down to the soccer field for the Inter-Ac-clinching clash. Finally, find your way to the bleachers at Sabol and watch as the Sixth Formers assert their final game of dominance—going undefeated against EA all four years.

Go Fords.
