Letter from the student body president

Asa Winikur ’24 – Pierce Laveran ’24

Going into winter break opens the door to many opportunities. Now’s the time to catch up with friends and family you may not get to see often. What I would argue is most valuable about winter break is the opportunity to reflect. The first semester is not over, but the two-week break leaves a great chance to look back on how the year has gone so far. As a community, I am happy to see what we have accomplished. We kept the sweater where it rightfully belongs, the fall play was a success, and I believe the upper school culture is in a good place. The Sixth Form has done a great job at setting an example for the younger forms to follow.

I am proud of how our students have been supporting each other throughout the year as well. The student fan section has had great show outs varying from football games all the way to squash matches. Moments like the Brunswick squash match make this brotherhood so special. There aren’t many places where each year, you can count on an EA Day-like environment for a squash match.

Remember though that none of this is possible without the ones that have come before us.

Let’s keep this year in the direction it has been going. I would like to give a special thank you to the Sixth Formers. We’ve created a welcoming vibe this year, and there is a special camaraderie between students, no matter what grade you’re in. This group of upper school students has carried on a culture that can hopefully be continued for years to come. As a group, we have brought out the best qualities of this school.

Let’s continue the roll we have been on. Remember though that none of this is possible without the ones that have come before us. As we aim to continue this great tradition of brotherhood, remember that the legacy is not ours, but ours to uphold.
