Lacrosse ready to fight for PAISSA State Championship

Haverford Lacrosse vs Malvern Prep during a chippy 7-9 loss on April 28, 2026 – Jesse Kanefsky ‘29

After a dominant, 14-8 win against Episcopal Academy on April 26th, the Fords Laxmen are prepared to end their season with the PAISSA state tournament trophy secured in a cabinet in the Fieldhouse.

“Obviously, we’re hoping to win it all. There are some really good teams out there, like Malvern and Hill School, but we’ll compete hard and get the job done. I think we can win,” Fifth Former Connor Morsell said.

The team has been toiling on the turf and in the weight room ever since the fall preseason.

“Doing a lot in the offseason really helped: training with Rosko, working on my game, and staying committed outside of the regular season is really important,” Morsell said.

The team’s camaraderie helps them get through tough workouts and practices.

“I love being on the lacrosse team. It feels like there’s an awesome brotherhood all the time. If someone’s down, people pick them up. If someone’s doing great, everyone hypes them up. It’s just an awesome environment. Even on JV, some guys may not have played lacrosse before, but nobody cares—you just help them out,” Fourth Former Luke Andersen explained.

Their preparations include film, intense workouts, and skillwork.

“A lot of practices later in the season are more focused on learning, watching film, and going over other teams. So if we’re really locked in mentally, that can take away some of the physical wear while still making us better,” Andersen said.

Morsell stresses the importance of rest and injury prevention.

“I think resting more between practices helps. As the season goes on, we’re not always going as hard physically every day because we’re trying to save our bodies a little bit. Mr. Warner also does a really good job helping us with that,” he said.

In preparation for the final matches, the team will give full effort in every practice.

“Especially going into PAISSA and playing Malvern Prep, a team we’ve had a long-time rivalry with, we need to be ready to go,” Andersen said. “We’re going to be a hundred percent.”
