Letter from the student body president

Mac Brennan ’27, student body president, delivers his campaign speech in Centennial Hall on May 18, 2026 – Index Staff

Fords, as the final grades are etched in the gradebooks, as doors start to close until September, and as answers on exams are fretted over one last time, we wrap up our time here together.

Throughout this year, we have experienced many ups and downs, from devastating losses to legendary triumphs. We’ve had moments where honor took a back seat to taking shortcuts and moments where virtue prevailed.

Yet we’ve always found the light, whether it’s cloudy or not.

All of these moments share a backbone: the Class of 2026. Through every tough moment, each gentleman in our halls had someone to look up to and rely on. But as they depart, their shoes need filling.

Whether you are a rising Sixth, Fifth, or Fourth Former, more responsibilities will fall to you, and more accountability will be expected of you.

But as students of The Haverford School, you will be prepared. Each and every student must rise and make it a personal mission to continue steering Haverford in the right direction.

Being a good person and role model doesn’t always have to come from doing something extraordinary or impressive.

This mission cannot be turned on and off whenever we want. Being a role model and leader matters with every breath you take and every action you execute.

Although this burden is omnipresent, the summer is a time for relaxing and doing what you want to do; being a good person and role model doesn’t always have to come from doing something extraordinary or impressive.

Have fun with your friends and pursue your passions while always being a Haverford man.
