Meet Mr. Shomari Watts ’09, our new Associate Athletic Director.

Mr. Watts played varsity football and wrestled all four years for the Fords. After Haverford, Mr. Watts continued to play football at the University of Rhode Island. Watts then earned his master’s degree in sports management before working in cybersecurity for seven years. He then worked for the University of Pennsylvania, raising money for its athletics program.

“I chose to come back to work at Haverford because this has always been a place that’s home for me,” Mr. Watts said. “You know, I got here in fifth grade. I was here from fifth grade to my Sixth Form year.”

Mr. Watts also emphasized the attractiveness of Haverford’s community, which has forged such a deep connection that he would not want to be anywhere else.

Mr. Watts’ favorite memory is winning EA Day in 2008, mostly because it was Mr. Murphy’s first EA Day win as head coach of the football team.

Outside of Haverford, Mr. Watts likes to spend time with his family and participate in jiu-jitsu.
