Letter from the Student Body President

Welcome back, boys.

I hope your summer had as much fun and relaxation as mine did. Those three precious months between school years are meant for rejuvenation, revitalization, and to bring you fully charged into the next school year. But as the summer winds down and school picks back up, it’s important to use that newfound energy to kick the year off right.

Energy for Friends: The summer is meant to bring the Haverford community together. People should spend time together and foster our community outside of school. As classes pick back up, however, it becomes harder to find time for the guys around you. Don’t let that happen. Make an effort to see your friends outside of school whenever you get the chance.

Energy for Academics: The first month of school is one of the most important for where you want to be when May comes. The grades you get on first tests or summer essays can determine if you’re playing catch-up for the rest of the year. Use your time early to get things done—and done well—so you won’t be a step behind in grades or assignments the whole rest of the year.

Energy for Activities: People commonly say Haverford is only great if you buy in, participating in as many things that interest you as possible. During the first month of school, it’s important to join as many clubs as possible, go to as many games as possible, and maybe even try out for a fall sport. Start these activities now, so when they pick up later, you are on top of things.

For this year to be everything we want it to be, we have to use the energy and time we have now to make sure it starts off right.

Go Fords.
