Letter from the student body president

Student Body President Mitav Nayak ’22

Dear Fords,

Attending the Third Form Orientation last week was a wonderful experience. I had a terrific time meeting new students and educators, introducing leadership groups to the Third Formers, and reconnecting with some classmates and teachers after a long summer.

That day, as some Sixth Formers gathered on the quad for lunch and feasted on warm, crisp, spicy-mayo-slathered Blackjack Chicken sandwiches, we reminisced about our time at Haverford.

When one of my friends said, “Wow, this has gone by fast,” everyone nodded their heads in agreement.

The fact that we Sixth Formers only have 164 school days left as a student at Haverford is shocking to me; it truly has gone by fast.

So to the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Formers, I urge you all to reflect and think about what you want to accomplish during your time at this school, because your days as a student here are numbered—and they go by fast.

What kind of impact do you want to have here? How do you want to be remembered as a student?

September is a time of new beginnings. It’s a time to meet new people, try out that new club, or pick up a new sport or skill. It’s the academic new year: a time to make resolutions and improve upon yourself and form new connections with others.

To my fellow Sixth Formers, I have a simple question: what can you do to make your last year at this school memorable, impactful, and inspiring, so that you don’t have any regrets when you walk across the stage to accept your diploma in June?

164 school days.

Let’s make every single one count.

Sincerely,

Mitav Nayak
